In April, a planning application was submitted for large and unattractive extensions to this already large house. The application attracted many objections from local residents - and also from WRA.
Planning & Development
A replacement for 164001. Essentially, the large first floor terrace has been removed and replaced with a ground floor balcony and the ground floor extension chopped back a fraction to accommodate this. We still consider this to be severe overdevelopment.
Demolition of nine garage units at the rear of Walpole Lodge and the construction of two two bedroom mews bungalows with roof terraces. At first glance looks a decided improvement, but possibly the thin edge of a worrying wedge.
At last a new use for the old betting shop that has been lying idle for ages; the applicants look to be changing it to an Italian Ice Cream Parlour, which will be sandwiched (pardon the pun) between Cote and Carluccios. There will be changes to the shop front and new advertising signs.
Amazingly, this is the fifth in a series of recent planning applications of which two were refused - a typical example of 'salami slicing'. The latest application is to convert the house into four flats with three rooflights in the front roof. Too much.
